Choosing your products
What products do I need to get started?
For a basic routine, you’ll need a No-Rinse Cleaner for the frame, a Micro-Emulsion Degreaser for the drivetrain, a lubricant suited to your riding conditions and a few microfibre cloths. Most of our kits bring these essentials together to help you get started.
Which product is right for my type of bike?
Our bike care products are suitable for road, mountain, gravel, BMX and city bikes, as well as e-bikes. Your choice mainly depends on the dirt you need to remove and the conditions you ride in. Check the recommended uses on each product page to build your routine.
What’s the difference between the No-Rinse Cleaner, Bike Wash and Degreaser?
The No-Rinse Cleaner removes dirt from your frame and bike surfaces with a simple spray and wipe. Bike Wash is suited to very muddy bikes and requires rinsing with water. The Micro-Emulsion Degreaser targets lubricant residue and dirt on the drivetrain: chain, cassette and chainrings.
Which lubricant should I choose?
Dry: for dry rides and dusty conditions.
All-Conditions: for changing conditions and riders looking for a versatile formula.
Wet: for heavy rain, mud and winter riding, down to −25 °C.
E-Bike: for e-bike chains exposed to the additional force and torque of a motor.
Do you have products for e-bikes?
Yes. Our E-Bike lubricant is designed for the specific demands of e-bike drivetrains. The No-Rinse Cleaner and Micro-Emulsion Degreaser also allow targeted cleaning without rinsing with a hose. Always follow your bike manufacturer’s instructions for the battery, motor and electrical connections.
Are your products only for cyclists?
No. In addition to our bike care range, our Body Care and Gear Care ranges support active people in a variety of sports, including running and hiking. They help you care for your clothing and footwear and stay comfortable during activity.
Bike cleaning and maintenance
Why clean my bike without rinsing?
To make maintenance quicker and easier. With our No-Rinse Cleaner, simply apply the product and wipe away dirt with a microfibre cloth, without getting out the hose or adding rinsing and drying steps. It’s convenient for apartment living, travelling or cleaning between rides. When mud builds up, washing with water remains a good option.
Can I clean a very muddy bike without water?
For a thick layer of mud, use our Bike Wash with a gentle rinse. The No-Rinse Cleaner is especially convenient for routine maintenance when your bike is dusty or moderately dirty. Choose the method that suits your bike’s condition.
Could no-rinse cleaning scratch my bike?
The No-Rinse Cleaner is specially formulated to loosen and mix with dirt, making it easy to wipe away without scratching. Simply spray and wipe with a clean microfibre cloth. Switch to a clean side or a fresh cloth as it gets dirty. Don’t dry-wipe a surface covered in sand or thick mud: remove the buildup first using an appropriate washing method.
Do I need to rinse after using the Micro-Emulsion Bike Degreaser?
No. This degreaser is designed to be wiped off without rinsing. Apply it to the drivetrain, loosen residue with a brush if needed, then remove the dirt with a microfibre cloth. Repeat if necessary. Once the chain is clean, thoroughly wiped and dry to the touch, apply your lubricant.
Can all your products be used without rinsing?
No. Only the No-Rinse Bike Cleaner and Micro-Emulsion Bike Degreaser provide no-rinse bike maintenance. Other products, such as Bike Wash, are used with water to tackle heavier dirt. Each product’s directions explain the method to follow.
Are your products suitable for carbon, painted surfaces and matte finishes?
Yes, our bike care products are formulated for common bike materials and finishes. However, choose the product based on the surface and the result you want: cleaning and adding shine are different uses. Both our No-Rinse Bike Cleaner and Bike Shine are designed for gloss and matte finishes. If you’re unsure, email us before applying.
Which products can I use on my disc brakes?
For rotors, use only a product and method approved by your brake manufacturer. Do not apply lubricant, grease or shine products to rotors or brake pads. When servicing your drivetrain, avoid splashing products onto the brakes and use a separate cloth to clean them. Our Bike Degreaser and No-Rinse Cleaner reduce the risk of rotor contamination because they leave no oily residue.
Can I use a pressure washer?
Use a gentle spray whenever water is needed. Avoid directing the spray at bearings, seals and electrical components to prevent water from getting inside the bike. Repeated exposure to water and cleaning products inside your frame can affect internal components. The No-Rinse Cleaner helps reduce this seepage.
How often should I clean my bike?
Let your rides and your bike’s condition guide you. After a muddy or winter ride, a quick clean helps prevent residue from building up. In dry weather, light maintenance may be enough between more thorough cleanings. The drivetrain needs particular attention when it gets dirty or coated with buildup. Our rule of thumb: lubricate every two to three rides and give your bike a thorough clean two to three times a month.
Can I use the same cloth to clean everything?
It’s best to keep one microfibre cloth for the frame and another for the drivetrain. This prevents grease or lubricant residue from transferring onto clean surfaces. Always use a clean part of the cloth and replace it when it becomes too dirty.
Chain lubrication
How do I apply my lubricant?
Shake the bottle, then apply a small drop to each link of a clean, dry chain. Distribute the product by moving the chain using the appropriate method for your bike. Allow it to penetrate before riding and follow the instructions for your formula. There’s no need to saturate the chain.
Do I need to wipe the chain after applying lubricant?
With Dry, no wiping is needed if you’ve applied the right amount. With Wet and All-Conditions, wipe excess lubricant off the sides of the chain with a clean cloth after allowing it to penetrate. For each formula, always refer to the directions on the bottle.
How long should I wait before riding?
Give the lubricant time to penetrate before heading out. With MINT’N DRY lubricants, the wait is only about five minutes. Also check the instructions for your specific product: using the right amount and properly preparing your chain are essential.
How often should I lubricate my chain?
Here are our reapplication guidelines: Dry: 150–175 km; Wet: 125–150 km; All-Conditions: 225–250 km; E-Bike: 150–175 km. Adjust these intervals to your riding conditions and the state of your chain. Rain, mud and drivetrain cleaning may call for an earlier application.
Do I need to degrease before every application?
Not necessarily. If the chain is still clean, reapplying lubricant may be enough. If residue has built up, clean it before lubricating. You should also degrease before switching from a wet formula to a dry formula.
Can I switch from wax to a MINT’N DRY lubricant?
When changing methods, start with a drivetrain prepared for the new product. Waxes and their removal methods vary: tell us what you’re currently using and we can guide you. Avoid layering products without checking their compatibility.
Why does my chain get dirty quickly after lubrication?
Too much lubricant or residue left on the chain before application can cause dirt to build up faster. Clean the drivetrain, apply a small amount and follow the wiping instructions for your formula. Also make sure your lubricant matches your riding conditions.
Clothing and gear
Why use a technical detergent for my sportswear?
Technical clothing needs care suited to its delicate, specialized fibres. Our Tech Wash is specifically designed to remove sweat residue and neutralize odors in sportswear while preserving its technical properties.
How do I use Tech Wash?
Follow the dosage on the bottle and your clothing’s care instructions. Choose the wash cycle and temperature recommended by the garment manufacturer. For fabrics or garments that require special care, check compatibility before washing.
What’s the difference between the Footwear & Gear Cleaner and the Odor Neutralizer?
The Footwear & Gear Cleaner removes dirt and stains. The Odor Neutralizer targets the molecules responsible for unpleasant odors without masking them with an artificial fragrance. Choose based on what you need: cleaning a surface, treating an odor or doing both with the appropriate products.
Can I use the Footwear & Gear Cleaner without machine washing?
Yes. Simply spray and wipe compatible surfaces. It can also be used as a stain remover before washing. It’s a convenient solution for footwear and gear that can’t go in the washing machine, provided you follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.
Are these products suitable for all fabrics and materials?
Each product has its intended uses. Check the directions on the bottle and your gear manufacturer’s care instructions. For delicate materials, special treatments or colors that may bleed, test on a small, hidden area first. Email us if you’re unsure about compatibility.
Does the Odor Neutralizer replace washing?
It treats odors, especially on items that are difficult to wash. It does not replace cleaning to remove dirt and stains. For washable clothing, maintain a suitable washing routine. For non-washable accessories, combine surface cleaning and odor treatment as needed.
Body care
What’s the difference between Chamois Cream and Anti-Chafing Cream?
Chamois Cream is designed for cycling comfort in areas where your skin comes into contact with your cycling shorts. Anti-Chafing Cream has a wider range of uses, including running, hiking and friction caused by clothing and gear. Its lighter texture makes it easier to apply on your skin. Choose based on your activity and the areas you want to protect.
How do I apply these creams?
Apply the cream before activity to areas of skin exposed to friction, following the product directions. For Chamois Cream, focus on areas in contact with your cycling shorts, with an application both on your exposed skin and the chamois itself; for Anti-Chafing Cream, target areas such as your thighs, feet or underarms. These products are for external use only. Follow the precautions on the packaging.
Are the creams suitable for both women and men?
Yes. Your choice depends on your activity and the type of friction, rather than your gender. Chamois Cream is suitable for road, mountain and gravel cycling, as well as indoor training.
Do your creams contain petroleum or animal-derived ingredients?
No. Our Chamois Cream and Anti-Chafing Cream are vegan, petroleum-free and made with 99% natural ingredients. Check the ingredient lists if you have any specific sensitivities.
Manufacturing and storage
Where are your products made?
MINT’N DRY is a Québec company. Our formulas are developed and manufactured in Québec in collaboration with manufacturing partners. We supply them with our recipes and raw materials, whose quality and origin we control.
What do you mean by formulas made with bio-based ingredients?
We use plant-derived ingredients in our formulations. This term describes the origin of ingredients used; it does not mean that every product is made entirely from plants. Check the details of each formula for its specific attributes.
What does biodegradable mean?
It means a product or its components can be broken down by microorganisms under specific conditions and within a given time. The stated properties depend on the formula. Being biodegradable does not mean products or maintenance residue should be released into the environment: collect dirt with your cloths and follow the directions for use.
Should I shake the products before using them?
Some products, including our Micro-Emulsion Degreaser and ceramic lubricants, need to be shaken before use. This helps mix the formula thoroughly. Check the directions on each bottle.
How should I store my products?
Keep containers tightly closed and protected from freezing and excessive heat, following the label instructions. In particular, avoid leaving products for long periods in a hot car or an unheated garage during winter.
My product froze or its appearance has changed. Can I still use it?
Email us before using it if you notice an unusual change in texture, color or smell, or if the container has been damaged. Include the product name, storage conditions and, if possible, the batch number, along with a photo. We can advise you based on the formula involved.
Do your products have an expiry date?
Our products do not have an expiry date. However, for optimal performance, we recommend using them within three years and following the storage instructions.
